Author description

FELIX SALTEN (1869-1945) was born in Budapest, Hungary, but moved to Vienna, Austria, when he was just four weeks old. He wrote "Bambi "in 1923. It was translated into English in 1928 and became a Book-of-the-Month Club success. Two years after Adolf Hitler banned Salten's books in 1936, Salten moved to Zurich, Switzerland, where he lived for the rest of his life.Maja Dusikova was born in Piestany, Czechoslovakia, and now lives in Florence, Italy. One of the most celebrated illustrators in Europe, she has a pet rabbit named Cici that runs under her table while she paints and doesn't like carrots. She has illustrated some of NorthSouth's bestselling picture books, including "The Advent Storybook" and "Heidi."
